Shalbourne Community Fund

Community Fund members beside the first defibrillator at the village school. From left to right: Jane Campbell, Kathy Bird, Ruth Truran (Secretary), Lesley Green, Jane Woodroffe (Chairman), Catherine Byrne and Jean Turnbull (Treasurer).

A second defibrillator is sited by the entrance to the Sports Field off the Lynch. Although there is street lighting nearby it is advisable to take a torch for night-time visits.

Community Air Horns

Rural communities like Shalbourne are purchasing air horns to use in the case of an emergency, to attract help from either neighbours or passers by.

They have been proved very useful and therefore the Shalbourne Community Fund is taking orders (they are £10 each) and arranging to demonstrate them working.

Anyone interested in buying one or seeing it demonstrated should contact Jane Woodroffe on 01672 870326 or

e-mail  Janewoodroffe@Gmail.com

Wheelchair

We have purchased a new wheelchair for use by people in the local area and visiting family and friends. It is suitable for the young and elderly.

So if you suddenly need the temporary loan of a wheelchair 'phone Jane Woodroffe on 01672 870326 or e-mail Janewoodroffe@Gmail.com

Donations welcome.

Annual General Meeting 19:06:12

Chairman’s Report

I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the organising committee, Ruth Truran and Jean Turnbull for their support and highly efficient standards of work in their various jobs. I also thank Kathy Bird because she has taken on the ‘caretaker’ role for defibrillator No.1 at the school.

Also the trustees, Jane Campbell, Catherine Byrne, Jackie Tyler and the members of the public for their help and continued interest, Lesley and Robert Green.

We have achieved a lot this year, we have bought and insured a wheelchair, and found accommodation to store it.

The Christmas Bazaar Tombola was successful and we bought Father Christmas a new costume for the village events. Kathy made a super display cloth for the table.

We have received cheques again this year from The Classic Car Show and the May Day Fayre.

No.1 defibrillator has a new cabinet and is now airtight.

No.2 defibrillator at the sports field is now up and running.

The footballers, the cricketers and the mums and toddlers have made good use of our defib. courses. The courses continue to run throughout the county.

We thank the sports club for their time, effort and support helping the electrician set up defib. No.2 and allowing it to be sited on such a prominent and convenient position.

This year our constitutional aims have been met to benefit the whole village.
